- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Click on the Media menu. To view the les in the Library,
- click on the Library option and you'll see the existing files, if any. The following screenshot shows you a typical view:
- To add a new media le to your Media Library, click on Add New.
- On the screen that loads in your browser, click on the Select Files button and the system will show you a pop-up that lets you to select the media les from your hard drive.
- Once you locate the le you want, select it, then click the Upload button and the system will add the le to the Media Library. As it uploads, you will see a status bar showing you the progress. Chapter 1 The WordPress Cook's Tools .
- Once the upload is complete you can view the le in the library and edit the details, if you so desire. The following screenshot shows you the Upload New Media screen, where you can edit the image info. Once you nish with your edits, click on Save all changes.
To delete les from the Media Library, carry out the following steps:
- When inside the Media Library, simply hover the mouse over an item and the Edit, Delete Permanently, and View buttons will be appear.
- Click on Delete Permanently and the system will prompt you for con rmation.
If you wish to remove the le, click on OK in the pop-up and the system will delete - the file.
- Go to the Media Library.
- Select the checkboxes immediately to the left of the les you wish to delete.
- Select the option Delete Permanently from the Bulk Actions drop-down list (located above the list of les)
- Click on the Apply button.
Editing les in the Media Library is limited to modifying the meta information associated with
the le; you cannot actually edit the media le itself. To edit existing le's information, carry
out the following steps:

Access the Media Library.

Hover the mouse over the item you'd like to edit and click on the Edit link
that appears.

Click on the Update Media button when you're done and the system will save
your changes.
